Subject: Land of perumals (Cochin)1863 Francis Day
The book gives a possible light to the facts about Vascodagama. It speaks about the Syrian Christians near crangannore, the representative of the king who welcomed Portugal King to rule them as they were afraid of Moors ( heathen). It says about the Royal staff with three silver bells at the end of wooden rod ascertaining the passing of authority. It is indeed a great revelation. The king is naturally the Kshatriya king of Villar Vettath who ruled Syrian Christians and jews.It is cited in many old books. However this incidence was in 1499 . In 1658 the Portugal King presented the Cochin king with a crown ( the king was of this Vettath family) which was encrowned on Ramavarma at Cathedral church of Cochin. The king was murdered by Dutch. The same is mistook by this great writer a medical Dr, who gathered the information after more than 200 years and wrote it asthe crown presented by VascodagamaVascodagama . Ofcourse ,since 1663 the Kingdom of Cochin was ruled by the lineage of kings and Prime Minister installed by Dutch and the wrong information about the crown was purposefully and it is the only crown preserved by Cochin dynasty .
